Mitchell Johnson announces his retirement

Paceman to retire from all international cricket at the end of the WACA Test

Jhonson was thinking about his retirement from the last few months and the decision was made now and he will retire after the on going test in Perth.Johnson has confirmed that he will retire from all cricket immediately the second Test against New Zealand comes to a close at the WACA, and will not see out the current series against the Black Caps or the remainder of the Australia summer. He leaves the game as Australia’s fourth-highest Test wicket taker with a current tally of 311 in his 73rd Tests.

Johnson then took that charging form into a three-Test series against South Africa and adding to catching a extraordinary 59 wickets at an average of 15.23 over that period, he frightened batsmen with his speed and aggression and was awarded the Allan Border Medal in 2014 as Australia’s most brilliant cricketer. He was also named the International Cricket Council’s Test Player of the Year after those exploits, to add to the ICC Player of the Year honour he received in 2009.

Only Dennis Lillee (355), Glenn McGrath (563) and Shane Warne (708) have taken more Test wickets than Johnson who is the only player among that quartet to also have irregular a Test century with the bat. But Johnson also experienced some deep lows, most notably his loss of form during the 2010 Ashes series in England that saw him humiliated by English crowds and had him question his hunger for the game, and a serious foot injury in 2011 that forced him out of the game for a year. He used that time to recover his fitness and reignite his passion and resumed in the second phase of his career as one of the most dominant, exciting players in the world.
The 34-year-old passed in the lead-up to the current Test that he considered retirement “most days” and those thoughts certainly became more insistent as he laboured through a unproductive first innings on a WACA pitch that was once his highest helper. It appears that any fears Johnson might have felt about extending his career through to summer’s end in pursuit of the Test wicket benchmark of 355 set by his close friend and mentor Lillee were removed when he recorded forgettable figures of 1-157 in NZ’s first innings. He has also chose to finish his international career, which involved 153 one-day internationals and 30 T20 appearances for his country, at the WACA which became his adopted home ground after shifting from his native Queensland in 2007.
This means he will not take part in the historic day-night Test match against the Black Caps in Adelaide on November 27, having already indicated his misgivings about the pink ball to be used in that match and the shift away from the traditions of Test cricket that he valued highly. "I feel now is the best time to say goodbye,” Johnson said in a statement released shortly before play resumed at the WACA where Australia holds a lead of 193 with a declaration expected later in the day. "I have been lucky enough to have had a wonderful career and enjoyed every moment of playing for my country. It’s been an unbelievable ride
Recently appointed Cricket Australia Chairman David Peever paid tribute to Johnson, who debuted for Australia a decade ago in an ODI in New Zealand and played his first Test at the Gabba two years later. "Dennis Lillee was surely right many years ago when he recognized a young Mitchell Johnson as a future great of Australian cricket,” Peever said, citing Lillee’s thought when he first saw Johnson bowl as a teenager in Queensland. "In many ways the sight of Mitchell as a moustache tearaway conjured memories of Lillee at his peak, not just in appearance, but for some of the most devastating fast bowling ever produced by an Australian.

"There have been countless highlights, but no one will ever forget his incredible performance in the 2013-14 Ashes when he took that series by storm, only to repeat those efforts soon after in the history-making win over South Africa in South Africa. "I am sure there are many batsmen around the world breathing a sigh of relief right now, knowing that they no longer have to face him. "He leaves the game as one of our all-time great bowlers and as an excellent example to young Australians about what they can achieve through hard work and devotion to their chosen dexterity. "We thank Mitchell for his exceptional service to the game and wish him, wife Jessica and daughter Rubika the very best for life beyond cricket.” Johnson’s announcement is likely to overshadow the final day of play at the WACA which is also the ground where his ex-teammate and former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting bowed out of the game in 2012.

Matthews added: “Mitch Johnson has been an outstanding diplomat for WA and Australian cricket and will be a huge loss for the game both on and off the field. “A favourite with boys and girls across the state, Mitch has been one of those players who has been an inspiration to young players at clinics and school visits and been a large part of the growth of the game with Australia having the highest participation rates of any sport.”

BCCI invites Pakistan to play in India in December

Pakistan team has been invited by BBCI for a home series in India in December 2015.As it was decide by both the boards that it would be a home series for Pakistan may be in UAE.But now the phenomenon  has been totally changed here.
Shahryar khan the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board told this news in a press conference today that the Shashank Maohar the Chairman of BCCI has invited Pakistan Cricket team by a phone call on Friday.
“Shashank Manohar called me up on Friday evening and told me they have got permission from their government to play against Pakistan. But he said they looked-for to play the series in India and not in the UAE,” Shahryar said.

He further told the media,”Manohar told that most of the pak-indo matches would be held in Mohali an Kolkata as there is no problem in playing. He said that they would provide top security to the Pakistan team to avoid any inconvenience”.

Apparently, according to the MOU signed with the BCCI, the PCB were to hold the series in UAE as India had hosted the last two series there. Regarding this, Sharyar said,”Why should we play our home series in India not in UAE.We expect to earn about USD50 million from this series. As last two bilateral series were held in india and now it’s our turn”

He also said that Pakistan team would not feel safe as there were a lot anti-Pakistan sentiments in india. He also said that he would consult the board of governors when they meet on 17 November. But hopefully these issues would be resolved.

As a parting statement, he said,”He told the chairman of BCCI to send us a detailed proposal in writng so that I may consult it with prime minister  and with His permission we would move forward.”

However,  the chairman of PCB’s management committee Najam Sethi stated that he would recommend the board not to accept any proposal from BCCI to play the series in India. He was the chairman of the board when the PCB and BCCI signed a MOU last year under which the two countries will play six series against each other between 2015 and 2023 with Pakistan hosting the first series in December  this year in UAE.

“In my personal opinion we should not go to India as it is our home series and the BCCI should honor the MOU they signed with us which states Pakistan will host this series,” Sethi said.

Irrespective of the venue it would be wonderful to watch a series between two big rivals of cricket as both teams are also wanted to play against each other regardless of the political aspects. Cricketing fans from both the countries are eagerly waiting for this tempting contest.

The man AB would choose to bat for his life

AB rates Williamson above the rest

Former Australian Captain Allan Border said that the due to his better technique and approach towards his batting Kane Williamson is much more good batsman than AB de Villiers, Steve Smith and David Warner.

If Allan Border could choose one person to bat for his life, it would be Kane Williamson. The former Australian captain rewarded the Black Cap the vital praise on Thursday, quoting Williamson's textbook technique that places him above the world's best. "Of all the gun batsmen going around, he would be the one I'd choose to bat for my life," Border told .
"Over AB de Villiers, in front of Steve Smith, in front of Warner, in front of all of them." At 25, Williamson has now scored 11 Test centuries, hiring him in the higher ranks of high achieving youngsters, next to the likes of Donald Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar. At this age he scored more runs than Don Bradman only Kallis is ahead of him in this list.
He was also the top scorer in both innings of the Gabba test with 140 and 59 respectively from the NewZeland’s side.
"Technically, he's probably as armed as any of them because I think he can take that technique to all different types of pitches," Border said. "You know, Virat Kohli got found out in England. I think Joe Root's right up there; I've got a lot of time for him. "Steve Smith's probably there too but he's a little bit more fidgety at the crease, so sometimes that disturbs the illustrations about how technically correct he is. "But I think Kane Williamson, he does everything correctly technically. "He's very still at the crease, plays all the shots. I think he's equally as comfortable against the spin and pace bowling.
On Wednesday Jhonson said that Williamson surprised us with his performance at Brisbane.
Johnson said. "I knew about him (but) I didn't realise what a good player he is. He can play all of the shots. He looked good in defence and I am really looking forward to playing him out here (at the WACA) on a ground that I really enjoy bowling on and really test myself against him. "He is obviously in very good form and he is going to go into this game with a lot of confidence.

  • Jhonson said "He is definitely one who we will talk about in our team meeting today after training. He is very difficult to bowl to. "If we build up enough good balls on him, he is going to be like any other player and nick off. He has a lot more patience than other player and his backfoot technique is also very good which gave him advantage over the bowlers.

Shashank Manohar: India may host Pakistan in December at home

Shashank Manohar: India may host Pakistan in December at home

BCCI president Shashank Manohar showed that India are all set to  host Pakistan for a limited over series in North India. Indian home minister Rajnath Singh has also given a positive response. Manohar informed the Annual General Meeting that BCCI had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play a two-Test and a five match one-day series in the UAE in December 2015.

“We are committed to playing Pakistan in December. However, since it’s not possible to play them in Pakistan or the UAE, we have to look at playing the series in Northern India in December,” said Manohar.

However, in current time former players have urged PCB not to pursue the series because BCCI ignored PCB’s extensive prayer about the series in the UAE in December. But, again elected BCCI president Shashank Manohar doesn’t want to breach the trust as he wants to abide the MoU.

Manohar after his election said the arrival of the series depends on not only the decision of the boards but also the political relation between India and Pakistan.

“To play against Pakistan we need to get government permission. So we need to speak to the government and take  whatever decision the government takes,” he said.

He was asked whether BCCI would be inviting a team to play a home series in December, Manohar at the post-AGM press conference said,  “It all depends on what happens to the proposed India-Pakistan series.

“We have to get an appointment with the government first and then we will take a call.”

India and Pakistan broke all bilateral cricket ties since the December 2007 series. A one-day international T20 series in December 2012.

Top 10 leading wicket-takers in ODI cricket since 2007

Cricket Universe | All Cricket Affairs,News and Updates.
Top 10 leading wicket-takers in ODI cricket since 2007: These days the stability between the bat and ball has coasted a lot in favor of batsmen. You call it big bats or small-sized boundaries or whatever but definitely there is no refuting to the fact that these days everything is apparently in favor of the batters. Even the miss hits and edges carry over the ropes. Nowadays, totals of 400 have become the new 300 while totals of 300 have become a doddle for the batting sides. In the World Cup 2015, we saw that on 26 occasions teams reached the 300 run dent while on 3 times they crossed the mark of 400 runs which once was careful as an outright unmanageable thing.

After the World Cup 2015, the International Cricket Council (ICC) was speedy to take helpful steps to restore the balance in the game and as a result changed quite a few rules in ODI cricket. But many people direct the very fact that the quality of bowling has also observed a new low after retirement of bowling stalwarts.
It is distinguished that between 2000 and 2007 as many as 9 bowlers acquired 200 wickets with 4 bowlers scalping in excess of 250 wickets. While between 2007 and 2015 there have been only 3 bowlers who have seized 200 plus wickets. But even since 2007, there have been bowlers who have tasted sensible success and have hence proved that in spite of any adversity quality bowling can bear anything.

Since 2007, Slinga Malinga has been the leading wicket-taker in ODI’s with 253 wickets. Malinga has certainly emerged as the greatest death bowler of the world with hell lot of skills in his armor like toe-crushing Yorkers, deceptive bouncers and slower deliveries. The second spot is full by the Aussie pacer Mitchell Johnson who has grabbed 225 scalps in the same retro and has headed the Aussie pace department.
Then comes the number of Boom-Boom Afridi who might not have been able to emblaze the 22 yards with the bat but has been superb with white cherry in hand. He has taken 202 wickets. English fluctuation impression James Anderson conquers the 4th spot with 191 wickets and has played pivotal role in providing breakthroughs upfront. The 5th and 6th position are occupied by Asian spinners Shakib- Al-Hasan and Saeed Ajmal. Shakib has been Bangladeshi side’s premiere all-rounder and has not left any stone unturned in the last few years for his side.
While Saeed Ajmal who recently got his action remodeled after his previous action was found to be illegal by the ICC holds average of 22.72 per wicket since 2007 which is the best in the list. Ajmal has won his side many a matches alone and has grabbed 184 scalps.. Nuwan Kulasekara and Stuart Broad are stationed at 7th and 8th position with 173 and 172 wickets respectively. While Kulasekara has been a perfect foil for Malinga, Broad has similarly complemented Anderson very well.
The last two spots are occupied by the South African duo of Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn. They have taken 169 and 162 wickets respectively.
